The Experts Are Hot on the Case! Solving PN/ILE Dilemmas in Adult and Pediatric Patients (CE/CME Webcast)
Activity Description and Purpose
This educational activity is focused on patients receiving parenteral nutrition, particularly intravenous lipid emulsions (ILEs). The activity will cover how to select the appropriate dose of various ILEs to prevent essential fatty acid deficiency in adult and pediatric patients, review recent guidelines for provision of ILEs in preterm infants, and summarize the appropriate use of ILEs in pediatric/neonatal patients at risk for intestinal failure–associated liver disease and in hospital and home adult patients with comorbidities. At the end of the activity, learners will be better prepared to achieve optimal outcomes for patients receiving ILEs. The desired results of this educational activity are to increase knowledge of the best practices in parenteral nutrition, thus increasing competence among clinicians in dosing and providing ILEs safely in adult and pediatric patients.
